Description

Search name

Enter the name that represents this search. This name will be shown in the Search Tree, and it will be the title of the results if this search is placed directly under a Tab Page.

Type of ID and

Product ID

You can specify one of:

· Amazon's own ASIN (Amazon Standard Item Number).
· An ISBN (International Standard Book Number).
· A UPC (Universal Product Code) code.
· An EAN (European Article Number) or JAN (Japanese Article Number). EANs and JANs are only used on Amazon's European and Japanese sites.

You can find Amazon ASINs on their item pages under Product Details. From Amazon's point of view, this is the preferred ID as the other IDs may not always be part of a product's record.

AmazonASIN

For books, the 10-digit ISBN should match Amazon's ASIN exactly, so you can specify an ISBN and use ASIN as the ID type.

Another advantage of using the ASIN is that you won't need to specify a Search Index for the search, which you would if you used one of the other ID types.

Site

Choose the Amazon site for the search.

This option is initially set to the default Amazon site as specified on the Amazon tab in the Prospector Options dialog. You can change the default if the choice presented is not correct.

Search index

If you use a product identifier other than Amazon's ASIN, you need to choose a Search Index (category) for your search.

Detect price drops for

With Prospector v8.0, the new listing detection that Prospector does for eBay and other items was expanded to handle change detection for Amazon items.

Since Amazon.com results don't have start and end times. They'll be presented with a summary like so:

AmazonItem

Prospector is able to flag Amazon items when prices drop for the item conditions that you're interested in. For example, if you're only interested in new items when the price drops, you would check "New" and uncheck the other options.

When a change that meets your criteria is detected, you'll be able to see it along with the new listings, or if you've set up email notification, you'll be notified of the change through email.
